Assault at High Velocity

Well, my last post was about the late Marc Bolan and his prophecies of his own death.  I sat and wondered as I do, exactly what happened.  Apparently and eye bolt from the fence shot out as the car hit it and like a missile or a bullet hit the back of Marc Bolan’s head, penetrating his skull and causing his death.  As I said I wondered what exactly happened and being a nurse, and having learned somethings, have speculated.  The kinetic energy from the eye bolt once having entered his brain would have dispersed through-out the brain and his brain would have vibrated intensely with the energy from the eye bolt. Because the brain is a colloid, a form of protein jelly, the strong vibration would have liquefied parts or all of the brain, as well as burst blood vessels causing the brain to fill with blood.  He would have died instantly.

Now, what I wrote just now is speculation that this is what happened to his brain.  However, the liquefaction of internal organs from such an injury is not a speculation. A long time ago I worked for a short while as a temporary matron in a local nursing home.  I was at the time privileged to meet a male nurse there who had worked in the army in active combat zones. So, I took the opportunity to ask him a few questions.  I asked him why it was that people across the street from a building where a strong explosion had occurred would die almost instantly despite not having been hit by debris or shrapnel.  His answer was that the explosion causes a tremendous displacement of air and increase in air pressure.  The people in

Turned to jellythe surrounding area would have a sudden blast of air up their noses and through their mouths and into their ears causing the ear drums to rupture and the lungs to explode.  Death would be almost instant if this happened.

The second question I asked is why do some people die from bullet wounds instantly even when they haven’t been hit in vital organs while other people being shot in the head and having  a bullet penetrate the brain have actually survived.  His answer was that the kinetic energy from a high velocity  bullet causes an intense vibration in the body which causes organs such as the liver, spleen, kidney’s and brain to liquefy.  All these organs, like the brain are a colloid jelly made of protein.  I vaguely remember him saying something about seeing bodies where this had happened.  They had no chance of survival.  Again you die very, very quickly.

So my main intent of blogging on this is because of the debate going on in America about banning the sale of high velocity assault weapons to members of the public.  High velocity means the bullet hits the body with great force, imparting tremendous kinetic energy.  I know nothing about weapons, but I can guess that if you shoot someone with a high velocity assault weapon you will kill them no matter where on the body the bullet hits and even if you didn’t intend to.  You will be responsible for rupturing and liquefying the organs of the body causing almost instant death. Are the American people so intent on killing each other that they must have these extremely dangerous weapons? Do they have so little regard for life?

On reflection (the day after posting this), American’s are very keen on promoting and maintaining their rights and freedoms.  They believe they have a constitutional right to own firearms.  I would however, point out that using a high velocity assault weapon takes away the freedom to choose whether to injure or kill a person.  This type of weapon, shot at close enough range, impacting anywhere, anywhere on the body, will inevitably it seems kill the person you shoot.  You have no choice in the matter when using such a weapon.  Surely if America is going to persist in their gun culture they should be taught what kind of weapon is appropriate when used in a given situation for a given purpose.  High velocity assault weapons are I believe used by the armed forces in combat zones.  So, do members of the public who own these weapons consider where they live a combat zone?  If so, they should move, or call in the army.
